Adverse Weather Arrangements on New Student Welcome Day (NSWD)​

For Students under:

  • School of Decision Science (SDSC),
  • School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS) and
  • School of Translation and Foreign Languages (STFL)

Before the commencement of the event

Weather Condition as announced by Hong Kong Observatory Time Arrangement
  • Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or below is hoisted, or 
  • Red or Amber Rainstorm Warning is issued

Anytime

The event will be held as scheduled. Some activities may be adjusted subject to prevailing weather conditions. Further announcements will be made on-site.

  • Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted, or 
  • Black Rainstorm Warning is issued, or 
  • “Extreme Conditions” Announcement is issued, or 
  • Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above will be issued within next two hours as announced by Hong Kong Observatory

At or after 6:00am

The event will be POSTPONED to 25 August 2026 (Tue) at 9:00am-1:00pm.

While the event isin progress

  • Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted, or 
  • “Extreme Conditions” Announcement is issued, or 
  • Signal No. 8 will be issued within next two hours as announced by Hong Kong Observatory

Whether the event will be suspended or proceeded as scheduled depends on the circumstances at the time. Announcements will be made on-site.
